We believe that His truth is revealed in the Bible and that we are responsible to search the Scriptures. Our desire is to discover the richness of God's Word as we study Biblical doctrines such as the Trinity, election and God's providence. We are not satisfied with superficial understanding. We want to know and understand God's truth as revealed in His Word. We want men and women to know the joy of God's salvation and we take seriously the command to preach, teach, and spread God's Word. Our heart beats with a passion for God and our desire is to share that truth. We would like to invite you to experience God centered worship and teaching with us at BFBC.
Learning About God
In today's world, we face many unprecedented pressures, struggles, and fears. At the same time there are more self-help resources, therapies, and religions than ever before. Ultimately, our culture denies any certain truth and embraces all cures and religions as being equal as long as they are sincere. Does this sound rational or even safe to you? It is our belief at Bonaire First Baptist that there is one truth - a truth which is personified in the Trinity and presented in the Bible. We believe that the ultimate goal of man is "to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever." Each week we present God-centered messages as we teach the Bible expositionally. We believe the most critical issue for our lives is to know God in order that we might understand who we are. All of us struggle, but we need to know that the ultimate answers to life are not to be found inside of us, but with the ultimate Author of life and truth. What is a Christian?
What is a Christian? That's a good question! There are many different ideas and opinions on this issue. Here are a few of the most popular: Christians are good moral people who believe in the Golden Rule; Christians are people who grew up with a Christian heritage; Christians are people who have had a religious experience at some point in their lives; or Christians are people who have prayed a particular prayer and received baptism. However, none of these answers is true. In fact, the Bible teaches that there is only one true answer to this question. The real issue is whether we are willing to rely upon one of many opinions or will we seek to understand the truth concerning this question - what is a Christian? At Bonaire First Baptist one of our passionate desires is to present this truth. We are careful not to manipulate people for the sake of decisions or statistics. We want people to come to an understanding of what the Bible teaches about authentic Christianity and we pray that God will apply this truth to their minds and hearts. We know that God is the initiator of true Christianity because each of us is prone to wander away from the true God. We fill our lives with religions and things which leave our hearts and minds empty and destitute. It is only by God's unmerited favor that He brings us to Jesus the Christ and changes our desires. This is the crucial reality regarding our question - what is a Christian? Perhaps you have been thinking about this question, or have considered other questions concerning the ultimate issues of life, such as: "Why am I here?", "What is my purpose?", or "How can I really know God?" These questions cannot be resolved by changing your behavior in order to conform your outward person. The real need in your life is for God to change you from within. Do your priorities include God-centered worship and witness, family oriented programs and ministries, activities which promote fellowship and mutual support networks? If so, we invite you to join us at Bonaire First Baptist Church. At Bonaire First Baptist, we strive to exalt God in all that we do. We offer a full educational program that includes expository preaching, diverse Sunday School classes for all ages, and discipleship groups on Wednesday nights. The children's ministries include a graded Sunday School, AWANA, and a weekday education program for ages two through Kindergarten. There are also youth ministries, college and career ministries, and ministries for adults of all ages. This framework is important in helping us to become the church God wants us to be, now and in the future. We invite new military families to join us. You will find that military families are an important part of fellowship. Our passion to preserve the past while we embrace the present includes a commitment to excellence in music.
