Worship Ministry

Praise to the Creator and Preserver.
1 Sing for joy in the Lord, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
2 Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre;
Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings.
3 Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
Psalm 33:1-3

 The worship ministry of BFBC has one primary aim which is to glorify God and enjoy Him together. This pursuit is expressed in Psalm 33:1-3, “Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.” Consider this text. God’s people are commanded to be joyful, to praise, to sing and to do these things with skill and passion. Therefore, music and singing are a vital part of our worship, and these must be informed and well prepared.

It is evident from Psalm 33:1-3 that worship is not simply appreciating or seeing the glory of God but also loving His glory. This means both right thinking and genuine affections are vital. True worshipers will worship in spirit and in truth. This is our goal: to sing great songs that express great truths, which inspire great thoughts and stir deep affections about our great Christ.

At BFBC, we sing songs that are theologically sound and passionate and strive to play them skillfully. Our hope is that what comes through is not musical ability, but a true sense of our reverence for Christ and his word. As musicians, we seek to diminish that Christ may be glorified.

Finally, our favorite “instrument” is the combined voices of God’s people as they sing His praises. We hope that every worshiper, regardless of musical experience or ability, will feel comfortable singing out in joy and love for our Savior!

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
Know that the LORD Himself is God.
— Psalm 100:1-2
